Things I Wish Were Happening in Canada Today

This is a list of things I wish existed in Canada without mentioning affordable housing, building the economy and taking down the interprovincial barriers for better goods and services because this list are about the small things not the larger needed things that’s politically based.

More Commercials

Homegrown Businesses and Services

If you want to buy more Canadian products it would be nice to know which ones are Canadian. Or at least help them sell their products to consumers. Even if it’s a commercial about foods on sale for a special calendar day.

Hertiage Minute

I always found that people can learn more about Canadian history bit by bit. This might help people have more pride in Canada instead of repeating negative misinformation about their own country they read off internet and maybe understand the history of why somethings were done that way and why it changed the country for the better.

Destinations within Canada

If you want to travel to unique finds in Canada, a commercial would help to know where to go. Even if it’s an amusement park or the zoo, it would help in tourism and developing an interest to explore different places in Canada.

Canadian Content

More Choices in Internet Phone Providers

This is a win-win situation with more variety in phone providers that could create a lower price in services through competition but television channels that could produce more Canadian content.

Encourage more Canadian French

Right now, most French-speaking Canadians are on the East Coast. The more people are exposed to another language, the more it can build interest and make it easier to learn. It could be in studies, media or offered training on the job.

Encourage more original content in the media

This would focused on storytelling in the media instead sequels, prequels and based on something else you previously seen before. It can be based on history, folk tales or an original story. Something interesting instead media that seems like it’s on repeat. I believe that people are willing to watch a new idea if it’s produced.

Media Interest

Have an interest in how the internet and AI software is used in the media and political messaging. It’s far too easy to be lied to by a flashy commercial that looks real but is no where close to reality.

Special Days

Celebrate days important to your province and country. There’s Flag Day on February 15th to celebrate by flying a flag. But there’s civic holidays and special commemoration days that could be celebrated.

Commerce

Start using Canadian business startups or at least know about them. Like I said before, this helps Canadians with jobs, work culture, and sustainability of businesses. Plus, it would be nice to pay attention to business acquisitions that target successful Canadian businesses to use as a personal bank account, draining the resources, then filing for bankruptcy saying they didn’t keep up with the times. This happens way too often with companies like Sears Canada and the Hudson’s Bay that this needs some intervention with federal policies from hedge funds exploiting the system.

More Businesses in Everyday Products

You know when you think about it there’s only a few companies in groceries, gas, telecommunications, and electronics to give an example. I feel there are little fixes people can do to change this, but looking for smaller local places, like fruit markets, local butchers, small gas bars, and electronic shops, might change help with variety and costs for somethings.

In Conclusion…

This reads more like a New Years resolution list for Canadians but this should be practiced every year regardless what is happening.
